The agitation for the High Court Bench at the Capital City of Kerala - Thiruvananthapuram, started in 1957 and is still continuing. The Government, the Opposition, and all Political Parties do support an establishment of a permanent bench in the state capital. Surprisingly this has not materialized.
Rumors, half-truths, blatant lies, petty and cheap games of factionalism stands in the way of the state capital from getting a permanent High Court bench. The agitation gained momentum recently when the request of the Chief minister of Kerala was turned down by the Honorable High Court of Kerala as something "not feasible or suitable".
February 2008 will go down in the annals of Thiruvananthapuram legal history as a defining period when the whole of Thiruvananthapuram came together; cutting across social, religious, political and cultural lines, unanimously demanding one thing in unison- the Restitution of the High Court Bench at Thiruvananthapuram will full filing powers. Never before has the clamour and demand for the High Court Bench at the Capital reached such a far reaching proportion as the current scenario reveals.
